The Education Department is proud to present “Teaching Tuesdays” as a series of classes that USW members can attend from the comfort of their homes.
All classes are held at either 11 a.m. or 8 p.m. Eastern, so if you are interested in attending one of the classes please click on the time that you can attend. Sessions run for 90 minutes.
We will be using Zoom to host each session. You can create a Zoom account and/or download the software here.

June 16, 2026 – Winning Past Practice Grievances
Learn how you can win more past practice grievances by knowing how to identify a binding practice, prove it with solid evidence, and shut down management’s favorite defenses. We will examine real-world scenarios so you can learn the tests arbitrators use, and leave with practical tools to turn unwritten shop traditions into enforceable rights.
June 23, 2026 – Tough it Out, All about Men’s Health: Dealing with Heart Health
This class we will talk about the stigma of men’s health and why we struggle to address our own health and home matters.
July 7, 2026 – FMLA
Since it was signed into law, the Family Medical Leave Act has become a key tool for working people when life takes unexpected turns. This workshop will include a basic overview of important provisions of FMLA. (US Content)
July 14, 2026 – Americans With Disabilities Act: Fundamentals for Workers
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas of public life. Beyond prohibiting discrimination, the ADA protects qualified individuals with disabilities in the workplace and ensures that these individuals have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. This workshop provides a basic overview of the act’s most important provisions, such as employee and employer rights and responsibilities.
