We are pleased to announce the United Steelworkers District 1 Women of Steel Scholarship Announcement for 2026.
For 2026 there are four scholarships to be awarded on a lottery basis to 2026 high school graduates.
A. Two (2) Technical/Trade/Online Scholarships with a total value of $1500 each to be applied toward tuition at any accredited trade/technical/online school in the United States.
B. Two (2) Academic Scholarships with a total value of $2000 each to be applied toward tuition at any accredited college or university in the United States.
C. If in the opinion of the Committee an essay(s) rises to the level of excellence, the Committee reserves the right to award one (1) additional scholarship. This applicant must have met the application requirements as stated herein.

The USW has a proud and long-standing relationship with the 70,000 members in represents in Ohio – from the steel mills of the North Shore of Lake Erie to the brass producers in the far northwest corner of the State to the school district employees in Muskingum County to the utility workers in Cincinnati and the coke plant workers in Haverhill.
Our workers in District 1 include hospital employees at Akron General Medical Center, paper mill workers in Chillicothe, nuclear services workers in Piketon, oil refinery workers in Toledo as well as tire makers at Goodyear, Firestone and Cooper, and staff members at the Stark County Department of Job and Family Services.
We’re also proud to say we represent the steelworkers at ArcelorMittal, WCI, Timken, REP, US Steel, AK Steel and Esmark (Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel).
