ULP Strike Follows ASARCO to Annual SME Conference
Union members from each of the ASARCO locations in Arizona and Texas attended the 2020 Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Annual Conference from Feb. 23-26 in Phoenix.
At the conference, they distributed thousands of handbills about our ongoing unfair labor practice strike, marched and chanted with allies from Tucson Jobs with Justice, CWA Locals 7050 & 7019, Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans, IATSE 336, UFCW Local 99, Maricopa Area Labor Federation, Pima Area Labor Federation, Arizona AFL-CIO and Healthcare Rising Arizona.
The chants were deafening and could be heard inside and for blocks outside the convention. ASARCO, its customers, suppliers and competitors definitely received a very loud and clear message.
