Michael R. Millsap
Director District 7
A second-generation Steelworker, District 7 Director Mike Millsap has spent the past 50 years fighting for fairness, safety and better treatment of USW members and all workers.
Millsap has served as District 7 Director since 2014, representing thousands of USW members in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Millsap joined USW Local 3069 in 1973 when he started work at Republic Steel in Gary, Ind. He served six terms on the local union’s grievance committee, including three terms as the committee chair.
He was elected president of Local 3069 in 1991 and reelected in 1994 and 1997.

In addition to his extensive experience as a local leader and standing up for members at the bargaining table, Millsap has served on the board of trustees for the Republic Steel Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA) and the Dana VEBA, which administer benefits for retirees. He’s also a member of the Advisory Board for the Institute for Career Development (ICD), a joint labor-management initiative that provides training and educational services to USW members.
