According to our friends at Oxfam America, the top global 1 percent currently hold about $125 trillion, half the world’s wealth. Raising the income of the world’s poorest to the global poverty line – $1.90 a day — would cost about $80 billion annually. Just 0.064 percent of the wealth of the top 1 percent, allocated annually, would be enough to end desperate poverty.
