What I saw in Puerto Rico was heartbreaking
Help by visiting: usw.org/relief. My name is Luis Mendoza and I'm a Steelworker staff member who was visiting family in Puerto Rico when Hurricane Maria hit last week. What I saw was like a horrific movie scene, and although I got out, my friends and family remain in crisis, including Steelworkers members.

Stop the Killing!
Stop the Killing. Enforce the Law! It has been more than two decades since the Westray mine disaster in Nova Scotia and a decade since amendments were made to the Criminal Code of Canada to hold corporations, their directors and executives criminally accountable for the health and safety of workers. Even though more than 1,000 workers each year are killed at work, police and prosecutors are not utilizing the Westray amendments, and not investigating workplace fatalities through the lens of criminal accountability.

Building a Union in Bangladesh
The USW and Workers Uniting are supporting efforts by workers in Bangladesh to build a free and independent union. As this video shows, the workers there are forced to tear apart huge container ships 12 hours a day, 7 days a week with no safety protections for just pennies.
