Republic Steel dragging their feet at the table
Last Friday, June 24th, your Bargaining Committee gave the company a comprehensive proposal that reflected your concerns and addressed many of the issues you said were important.
The company took 2 hours to come back to the table to get clarification on a couple of issues, and then say that the proposal was too big and they needed their team to look at it. The company paused the negotiation session and said that everyone should go back to their jobs, that they would notify the Union when they’re ready to continue.
Your Bargaining Committee was ready and cleared their schedule to be in negotiations all this week. The company now says they will be prepared to counter our proposal next week and would pick a date to meet.
Republic needs to know that getting a Fair Contract is going to take meeting more than one time a week. We have been ready to bargain and will continue to be.
