PITTSBURGH (August 26) – United Steelworkers (USW) members have voted to ratify a new three-year contract covering about 2,400 workers at two BF Goodrich facilities in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Fort Wayne, Ind.
The ratification comes two weeks after members at the two USW locals rejected a proposed tentative agreement with the tire company. The two sides resumed negotiations after that vote, resulting in the new agreement.
The three-year contract with employees at Local 351L (Tuscaloosa) and Local 715L (Ft. Wayne) will expire in July 2016.
The USW represents 850,000 members in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. It is the largest private-sector union in North America, representing workers in a range of industries including metals, mining, rubber, paper and forestry, oil refining, health care, security, hotels, and municipal governments and agencies.
